We are finally back from our vacation in Gränna and I feel extremly rested and relaxed. Almost too much so, since I could already feel the familar and annual pang of autumn creativity stirring. It could also be the new little baby somersaulting in my tummy. In just a few days we will do the ultrasound scan and know a bit more about the little one. I feel anxoius, curious and happy.
I cannot say that I have knitted much, but I did finish Mollys Headband from Interweave Knits “Sweet Somethings”. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it to a good friend. I guess I will have knit another headband just to take a proper picture. Since it was a fun and quick knit I am actually looking forward to it.
I also started what I thought would become a Little Arrowhead Scarf (also from IKs Sweet Somethings) in Debbie Bliss silk yarn. Sadly, it just had to be frogged. The pattern is beautiful, but it did not do the silk all the justice it asked for. Too much of that lovely silky luster was lost in the pattern and I decided to go for a simple straightforward pattern. I plan to add a lace border in another yarn, maybe linen or mohair. What do you think, could it work to add a completely different yarn as a kind of decoration?

Last evening I stopped by the Stockholm Knitters and it was, as always, a real treat. I cannot really understand why I am such a rare guest at their Tuesdays at Ginos. It must have been over six months since I last managed to attend.
We are discussing whether or not to participate in the Wateraid campaign that “I Knit London” started. You knit a 15×15 cm square and all squares are sewn toghether to form a great knitted river through London with a message about clean water. We might be able to make a public campaign in August.
We also had a knitting celebrity visiting last night, Elsebeth Lavold came by and she is so sweet and professional. It was an honour and a great pleasure to meet her. I so wish I had realized who she was while talking to her, and telling her how much I looove her work and designs. But I did not. I am such an idiot. I lay in my bed at night unable to sleep and thinking “Wow. Cool.”

I had some great news a little while back and suddenly all craftiness sort of paused for a little while. Nowadays I can be sure that it eventually comes back. I know I cannot stop crafing for long periods. Knitting, crocheting and other crafty stuff is a grounding experience for me. My head is still left in a cloud, but I have got my unfinished Hedera with me today and I am hoping that this sock resembling a ground-creeping ivy can bring me a bit closer to earth.
I am so tired all the time and I am tired of being tired. The summer is here and all the stupid grasses are blooming. In a week or so I should be feeling a bit less stuffy in the head. Stupid allergies! I do not want to be weak. The worst part of this is that I have a lot less patience for my family and my home is falling prey to dust bunnies the size of sheep. I hope they will forgive and forget (the family that is, not the sheep).
At least I have had some time to think about what I would wnat to knit next. My choice, I think, has fallen on a lace shrug from Interweave Knits, Summer 2005 - the Flower Power Shrug. The pattern is included in the staff project pdf file “Shoulder Shrugs“. I would love to use a pure silk or a silk blend for it. Well, a girl can dream, can she not?

I will not write a lot today, my eyes hurt and my head spins. This is not a day for stories, but for pictures!

This is the result of my bead and yarn experiment. Those beads were difficult to manage on a yarn like Noro Kureyon which varies both in colour and texture. It is basically an I-cord with beads, nothing too complicated. My husband says it is the prettiest thing I have ever knitted.
Too bad it is not my colours!
I have had a small fear of certain knitting tecniques, like lace and bead knitting, which I cannot explain fully. I seems a bit silly now. However, I think I might have conquered both with this necklace and the Hedera Socks below.

Look how far I have come on the Hedera! Now there is only the Heel Fright, the Finishing Phobia and the Second Sock Syndrome to get over.

I have survived the parties of my now four-year-old daughter and I have actually done some knitting. If I were not so dazed by allergies I could have posted some photos, but my vision is constantly blurred. Seriously!
I have also been thinking a bit about integrity. My own is turned up so high it might scare people of I am afraid. I am just a bit shy, that is all. But I find a a kind of comfort in reading blogs about sick cats, aches and pains and worries about this and that. I even try to give a word of comfort or offer some kind stupid advise sometimes. I hope it works, most of the time.
If I can find all the bits and pieces of my camera I’ll be able to show you a photo of a finished object, the “Purled Beret”. I have also started on the Hedera Socks even if it took a while to decide which yarn I wanted to use for them. I think I might have caught the lace bug after all because there is a soft voice in my head whispering lace shawl, lace shawl…

My sweet little daughter saw me crochet a pair of slippers for my sister and asked me to knit something for her, preferably something pink and cute. The two of us did some imaginative thinking and went through my yarn stash togheter. We decided to make a knitted cape in the softest pink yarn she could find. I really made the knitted flower pin for myself, but somehow it got adopted by her the second it got off the needles. Admittedly, it might suit her better.

Yarn: Drops Alpacka
Needles: 5 mm
Pattern: None, the lace edge pattern is from Nicky Epstiens “Knitting on the Edge”, as is the knitted flower pin.
