This is a Q&A list in swedish for a secret pal swap called ‘Hemlis’.
1. Vilken sorts garn tycker du mest om? (Ull, akryl, bomull osv.)

The Candle Flame Shawl is finished! Here it is in all its unblocked glory. It is nice and warm and snug.

Pattern:
Yarn: Östergötlands ullspinneri
Needles: 4,5 mm Addi Turbo circular
I am actually a bit afraid of blocking it, since I am very fond of the texture of the shawl. Now, all I need is a great pin and it will be a perfect gift. I do not know who will get it just yet… I loved the process of knitting this shawl, every single stitch of it. It prepared me for knitting more complicated lace, like the Shallowtail Shawl that I have been dreaming about.

I will leave you with a picture of Ivar at ten weeks. Those chubby cheeks speak for themselves, do they not? We are so relieved to see him grow. He is a talkative and happy little guy. I could plant a permanent kiss on top of his soft little head.

My Candle Flame Shawl is almost finished and I have started on a red knit cap for Kristofer. He asked me to knit him a hat just like the one that Willem Dafoe wears in the film “Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou“. That was almost two years ago… so I hope he still wants to wear it once it is finished. You can get an idea of what it will look like in here.
My brain is totally fogged with sleeplessness. All I can crank out of it is lists. So here it goes - ten things you did not know about me (edit: well, eight really….sorry) :
- I love to feel the surface I walk on. As soon as I come home I throw away both shoes and socks and walk around barefoot.
- Books are probably my second passion after knitting. I love reading and can get completely engulfed in a story. Right now I am reading “The Best a Man Can Get” by John O’Farrell, which might not be a wise choice considering my fragile new mom state.
- Or, music might be my second passion. I can never make up my mind about this. Our home is rarely silent during the days. You are welcome to view my musical profile at Last.fm
- I love to dance around to music when nobody is watching. Well, just my family because they all hop around with me. Is that weird?
- I truly belive I can sing, when I sing along to a beautiful song. But when the music stops it does not ever sound as good as I thought it would. Hmm…
- A balanced healthy nature is very important to me and I try to make ecological choices whenever possible.
- I know the names of many trees, flowers, birds and wildlife. Probably because I grew up in the middle of a forest. I hope to teach my kids some of this knowledge.
- I love my family more than I can describe with words. Each and every one of them in their special way.
I hope your are all having a great weekend!

I have finally picked up my knitting again after the birth of Ivar. It did not result in anything grand or spectacular. Not yet anyhow.
My Candle Flame Shawl got a few rows bigger, thats all. I just love knitting the Candle Flame! The pattern is easy to remember and has enough variation to keep me interested. It also helps that it looks more complicated than it actually is. Sitting there, knitting happily, I made a quick list of a few new projects. Not that I have the patterns or the yarn to start with the list. It might be absolutely necessary to purchase a new fabulous book and some luscious yarn, do you not agree?
Shallowtail Shawl from Interweave Knits
Hats for my Kristofer and my dad.
Baby knits for Ivar: socks, (Gnome) hat and cardigan
Girly girl socks for Tyra
Monkey Socks from Knitty
If I am brave enough I will not start with anything new until I have organized my WIPs. If I am really brave I might post photos of my WIP list here… It is just a bit embarrassing since I must be the slowest knitter in the world
I am slowly adjusting to life with two kids. My wound is still awkward, but as much as I hate having my scar I am so so thankful that the incision saved my baby and myself for any serious damage. We might never get an answer to why my placenta separated prematurely or if it could somehow have been prevented. I do not know if it matters, but at least any kind of answer would help me to stop thinking about it.
Last night I danced slowly with Ivar in my arms to the tunes of Jack Johnson, which seemed to settle his little tummy and put him into sweet sleep.

These toe-up two-at-once socks on a magic loop are finished. I really like to have two socks ready to wear the very instant that I bind off them both. It was also nice to be able to simply tuck the whole knitting into a pocket in my jacket without fear of dropping any stitches. Finally this “magic” cast on is by far the best I have tried. The stitches line up very neatly without the need of extra needles, yarn or techniques. I actually do not think I will ever cast on differently for any new toe-ups for now on.

It is getting awkward to move around and my nesting instinct is screaming very loudly. I am a very tired “preggie” right now, but nevertheless pretty focused on getting things done. My little baby is moving around a lot and we are getting to know each other. He moves softly whenever there is music on and has a lot of hiccups. It tickles.

I am growing. It is the strangest feeling to carry a new little life around with you everywhere you go. It is both a bit freaky and very cozy. I will tell you a bit more about it, but first – some knitting.
Many fellow Sthlm knitters have been knitting these beautiful Candle Flame Shawls and I finally gave in to the craving and started one myself.

It grows fast and is a fun pattern. The yarn is a wooly dream in pink and purple from a Swedish manufacturer. This is also why I will have to either gift it or swap it. Purple, however beautiful, does give my very pale skin a greenish tint.
The weather is getting colder and my four-year-old needs a new pair of socks. It gave me the perfect excuse to learn how to make two-at-once toe-up socks on a magic loop. I really wanted to avoid the mistake from last year, when we all had just one sock each when the snow fell. Tutorials can be found at Knitty.

Sometimes, a quick and easy project is all that you need while your brain is busy working on something complicated. At other times, something quick and easy is just all that you need.
My Birthday Bolero is finished! I am not sure I want to show you how it turned out, since I am not fully content with the shapeless fit. Just look at it. Is it not a little big? I love the colour, the gauge was right on the spot and maybe I was a wee bit sloppy with the finishing. It must be the belly.

I tried it on my MIL. It fits her perfectly, which only adds to my confusion. She asked to have it wrapped for christmas. So, I guess I already have the first chistmas present ready for delivery.
A quick knitter could have had this bolero finished in two days. I do not have much knitting time, so it took me a little longer. But since it was such a quick knit, I might knit a another one in a smaller size.
I do have some more quick projects to show you, a beret and a headband, I just need to find some time to take a photo while the daylight is still bright enough. Have a nice day!

It was my birthday a few days ago and I had slept way too little. There was a full moon that night and I would have slept through anything but a wide-eyed four-year-old needing a little company in the moon light. I get easily irritated when someone wakes me up in the middle of the night, in fact I think I stormed out of bed to get some water and a biscuit. It is not a streak in my personality that I am particularly proud of. When I came back into Tyras bedroom I saw her standing beside the window gazing at the sky. She did not say anything. She just held out her arms for a hug. My anger simply melted.
Autumn is definitely in the air in Stockholm, with colder crisper days. My office at the museum is cold and I need something to warm my back. So I started a quick bolero which now looks like this,

but will shortly turn into this:

And lastly, many thanks to lausse for this wonderful and funny idea; a knitted Leia wig! Why not?

Finally! I am ready to show off my finished pair of the Hedera socks. The pattern can be found at Knitty. I used an alpacka yarn for these from Drops which made them soft and fuzzy, but not as durable as a pair of wool socks. It does not matter much to me. I am so proud to have finished a lace project.
Even though it took me months to finish… If only I had known about the power of a full-scale Second Sock Syndrome before.

I am not completely happy with the how the gusset fit. They are a little too big for my feet and I will probably not use the method in the pattern for any future socks. It is not a big deal, not enough to have me re-knit them. I simply dream of home-made socks with a perfect fit.

Here is the Sthlm Knitters paticipating at a “Culture and craft festival” in Kungsträdgården, Stockholm. It was a rainy and cloudy day with a bit of chill in the air, but still a very nice gathering of knitters in a tent. We all had some questions from interested passers-by. You cannot see me knitting in this picture (sorry!) since I was temporarily busy stuffing my face with a home-made vanilla bun. Yum!
